GBR Helicopters employs fourteen full time pilots who, collectively, have over 40,000 flying hours. In addition, the company employs a number of casual plots – many of whom have previously been full-time employees. Our casual pilots are kept current with all company policies and procedures, and can be called upon to fulfil specific contracts and taskings as required.
The company’s team of pilots is drawn from a diverse background of experience and specialisations including remote area, over water, vertical reference/long lining and low level flying in all its different forms including power line and vegetation surveys, fire spotting, aerial photography and filming, etc. These skills are combined in certain cases with extensive experience of remote and high altitude operations.
On average GBR Helicopters conduct more than 6,500 flights annually, and our tourism operation boasts the highest single engine offshore landings per annum in the world.
Company pilots are constantly undergoing training in all aspects of their flight operations. Every two years our pilots undergo refresher training in Crew Resource Management (CRM), Aeronautical Decision Making (ADM), Controlled Flight Into Terrain awareness (CFIT) and Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET). Additionally, all pilots have First Aid accreditations.
