Welcome to the third edition of the GBR Helicopters Newsletter.

Distributed quarterly, the newsletter will keep you up to date on all the news and views from the
leading rotary aviation company in Far North Queensland and is a great opportunity for us to share
with you how we’ve become the best in the business. In future issues there will be a range of
competitions and some great prizes to be won so keep reading and we hope you enjoy.

New Cairns Heli Centre Opening

GBR Helicopters Opens World Class Tourism Hub on Cairns Waterfront. On the 28th of November GBR Helicopters launched our brand new, dedicated, customer service and retail hub – The Cairns Heli Centre. Located at Marina Point in Cairns, and open daily between 8am and 6pm, the Cairns Heli Centre offers a world class environment for all customer enquiries and check-in services.

In addition, the Cairns Heli Centre offers a range of helicopter-related retail merchandise – from shirts and hats, through to images of the Great Barrier Reef and remote controlled helicopters.

GBR Helicopters has launched the GBR Flight Training School operating out of its base at Mareeba. GBR Helicopter’s talented team of Grade 1 Flight Instructors boast a collective 20,000 hrs of helic

Famous for its 300 plus days of clear skies and sunshine and free of coastal humidity and high temperatures, Mareeba is the perfect location for students to start the incredible journey that becoming a qualified helicopter pilot represents. As a division of one of the largest private helicopter operations in Australia our students will be exposed to a large, busy tourism and commercial charter helicopter operation with more than 20 professional pilots operating a fleet of 18 aircraft. New Director of Operations: Alex Jefferis

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Alex Jefferis as Director of Operations. Alex joined GBR Helicopters in November to take on responsibility for day to day Operations, Safety, Compliance, Human Resources and Cost Control. Alex joins us from Qantas where he spent 28 years in Operational and Senior Management roles – including being the Head of Queensland Airports for Qantas, GM of WA airports and GM of Adelaide Airport. GBR Helicopters Managing Director, Ian Johnson said Mr Jefferis’ appointment is an extremely important move being taken by the company and will support future growth while shoring up recent developments that in the past 12 months have included the employment of 17 additional staff, the launch of a flight training school in Mareeba, acquisition of seven additional aircraft, making a total fleet of 18 helicopters and the impending opening of the new Cairns Heli Centre.
