All of our helicopters, except the Robinson have turbine engines allowing for safer and smoother ride.

Our helicopters are fitted with emergency pop-out floats, Emergency Locator Transmitters and headsets for all passengers allowing for internal communication and noise protection. They are maintained by our in-house engineers, who have over fifty years combined experience.

Since the late 1990's our aircraft have been collectively flying many thousands of sorties each year predominantly in over water operations in the Tropical North of Queensland. Our maintenance regime is demanding and strict.

All aircraft are maintained in-house by our team of engineers under Certificate of Approval number C543783 Issue 02 to guidelines set down in the Great Barrier Reef Helicopters Pty Ltd Maintenance Procedures and Quality Control Manual and as per class "B" aircraft to the specifications of Bell and Allison maintenance manuals.

Chief Engineer Dennis Fairley has over 30 years experience in helicopter maintenance in Australia and New Zealand, and is a holder of airframe and engine (turbine and piston) licenses. He is assisted by an additional two full time engineers, including Dave with 10 years experience in the rotary field.

GBR Helicopters carries full aviation hull and liability insurances including all risks of Flight and Ground including Third Party Bodily Injury, Third Party Property Damage and Passenger Legal Liability arising there from. Copies can be provided on request.
