The reef is located in the Coral Sea off the coast of Queensland in north-east Australia. Here you can discover a whole new underwater world and greet over 6,600 species of flora and fauna, including 1,500 species of fish, 4,000 species of molluscs and 400 types of coral.
The Great Barrier Reef can be seen from outer space and is the world’s biggest single structure made by living organisms. This reef structure is composed of and built by billions of tiny organisms, known as coral polyps. It supports a wide diversity of life and was selected as a World Heritage site in 1981.CNN labelled it one of the seven natural wonders of the world.
The Great Barrier Reef has long been known to and used by Aboriginal Australians and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and is an important part of local groups’ cultures and spirituality.
We had a flight to the reef with your company on Sun 26/11/12 apart from a small hiccup with weights of other passengers & a slight delay for another chopper to arrive , we finally were airborn. Jackie our pilot was excellent & we would like to extend our thanks to your staff for their friendliness and the extra effort they went to to make a unfortunate delay pleasant. We would recommend your company to our friends & colleges as the preferred company for scenic flights.
